Martha - Enjoy lunch at iconic Joe’s Corner on the corner of Niles Blvd and J St. There is ample parking. Following lunch, browse the quirky “antique” shops along Niles Blvd. The Niles district of Fremont was the site of some of the first silent movies. Charlie Chaplin filmed The Little Tramp here. Early Westerns were filmed in Niles Canyon. If the weather holds, we will visit the historic California Nursery which was an historic rare tree nursery and has now been acquired by the city of Fremont. In addition to the rare trees there are two rose gardens and an original adobe house which was built by General Vallejo.

1972 - Friendship Force International was founded by Wayne Smith and introduced by President Jimmy Carter in 1977. Since then, the organization has held true to the ideals of bringing people together and promoting peace–and has facilitated millions of new friendships. There are 300 clubs around the world and our San Francisco Bay Area club is one of them.
