Our Mexico journey this October/November promises to be a wonderful experience that you won’t want to miss. We will visit two Mexico clubs in Xalapa (Coatepec Club) and Tuxtla-Gutierrez. Xalapa is in a volcanic region 2-hours inland from Veracruz near the Mexican Gulf Coast. Tuxtla-Gutierrez is to the southwest in the jungle of Chiapas state, not far from Guatemala.
Our plan is to visit Xalapa firs. We will see the historical center of the town in Xalapa with its University and large Museum of Anthropology. We will also visit the nearby colonial towns of Coatepec and Xico and take an all-day trip to the port city of Veracruz..
We depart Xalapa and spend 2 nights in Veracruz, a beautiful beach town before traveling to Tuxtla-Gutierrez. In Tuxtla-Gutierrez we will first experience the fiesta of the Day of the Dead (Mexican Halloween) on November 1st and 2nd. We will also visit a famous botanical garden, Sumidero canyon, as well as museums and markets for traditional Mayan art and crafts.
We depart November 7th and you could return to the US, but we have been offered an optional three-day side trip to Palenque, an important Mayan archeological site in the jungle. We relax 2 nights at a 4-star spa hotel “Chan-Kah” in Palenque and visit Mayan ruins as well as waterfalls and other sites in the jungle.
