A written itinerary with even more detail of what you'll see w ill be given at Shinn Garden, but here is what is planned:

Two fabulous guides: Angie Schmidt from Shinn Gardens and Janet Barton from CA Nursery Historical Park will showcase their beautiful gardens in Fremont.

10:00 AM: We'll meet Angie in front of Friends of Heirloom Flower Cottage to begin our tour.

10:15 AM:  Angie will show us their beautiful rose garden, maintained by volunteers. As we enter the Shinn estate, she will tell us about the beautiful Kato Japanese Garden. Angie will also tell us about the beautiful gates at the formal entry to the garden, well-appointed with colorful azaleas, gorgeous trees, grasses, rocks, and a partially enclosed cabana.

11:20 AM:  We'll say goodbye to Angie, get in our cars, and travel a short distance to CA Historical Nursery Park. As you enter the main gate off Niles Blvd, go straight back and slight left to parking area. Rose Marie will meet you by restrooms.

11:45 AM: We'll meet Janet Barton. We'll enter the Nursery Museum where we'll rest, then see a short video of CA Nursery dating back to early 1900's. We'll enjoy the museum's books, clothing, artifacts, and pictures of how the palm trees were transported in the early days on huge barges. This nursery was considered the best in Northern CA, and transported trees, rose bushes, tulips all over the USA.

12:30 PM: Janet will meet us and give us a tour of CA Nursery Historical Park -Be sure to read the billboards!

2:00-3:00 PM: We'll meet at Adobe House for lunch, enjoying the beautiful weather. Picnic tables by the main entrance will be reserved for us. Rose Marie will buy an assortment of sandwiches, fruit, and chips. The cost to you $10, to pay at park, or bring your own lunch. Please bring your own drink.  We'll eat our picnic lunch while enjoying each other's company!
